NHS Services in Luton
There are many different health services in Luton. Here are some of them that you may find particularly useful. Your pharmacist - also known as a 'chemist', your local pharmacist is qualified to give you free health advice without the need for an appointment. They can also give you information about medicines.

Your GP - your GP's surgery provides a range of services, including general medical advice and treatment, prescriptions etc. If you aren't registered with a GP you should do this as soon as possible, even if you are well. Luton Walk-In Centre - this is in Chapel Street, in the heart of the town centre, and is staffed by nurses. You can drop in without an appointment to see a nurse for advice, assessment and the treatment of minor ailments and injuries such as cuts, bruises, minor infections and skin complaints. Luton and South Beds Urgent Care Service - if you urgently need medical help when the GP's surgery is closed, you can call the urgent care line on 0845 6340 166. You'll speak to a trained local professional who will arrange for you to have telephone advice, an appointment with a GP or a home visit, according to your medical needs.
Accident and Emergency (A&E) - if you or somebody else experiences severe breathing difficulties, chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to an A&E department or call 999 immediately. The Luton and Dunstable Hospital has an A&E; it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assess serious injuries and provide emergency treatment.
