Hatters matters... a word from the editor

FORGET the injury crisis we’ve been suffering – it’s time to get positive.

Today’s the day our league campaign is going to get the kickstart it so desperately needs. With one or two players getting fit and back towards first team contention, now’s the time for a dramatic improvement in our results.

The target must be to get to 0 points as soon as possible. How about by Christmas? That means beating Dagenham, Brentford, Barnet and Morecambe at home (surely possible, with a bit of luck – although after Altrincham...) and getting a victory at either Rochdale or Wycombe.

Bournemouth are still on minus points and after that it’s Mike Newell in our sights – his Grimsby team haven’t got a league win yet, so must be catchable.

We started 30 points behind Grimsby and now it’s 20 (with a game in hand!), so on both teams’ current form we’re on course to overhaul the Mariners after about 42 matches (a bit too close to the end of the season for comfort, though).

Well done to 16-year-old Jordan Patrick for making a little bit of history at Grimsby by being the youngest-ever player to appear for Town. He may not hold that title for long, though, if the injury jinx continues – with Jean-Phillipe Yamfam (what a great name!), who’s even younger, making the squad recently
