Baseball is played between two teams taking turns batting and fielding. The object is to score the most runs in nine innings.
Each team's turn at bat ends when three of its batters or runners have been ruled out. If the score is tied after nine completed innings play shall continue until the visiting team has scored more total runs than the home team at the end of a completed inning, or the home team scores the winning run in an uncompleted inning.
At the Games, each team plays the other seven once, and the top four teams advance to the semi-finals.
